Manoela Rangel works the body as media. Graduated as an actress, her expression has been given through theatre, but also dance, circus, performance, writing and singing. When creating her own projects, she takes advantade of these various languages smuding their specific framings. Less as an aesthetic resource and more as a procedure, an ethics for creation, her identity as a labour of art is as mestice as her brazilian origin.

In 2015 she creates the alter ego Fudiva, developing a circus solo on aerial gear, funded by of Sao Paulo’s city hall. That is when she starts a partnership with the sound artist Dudu Tsuda that follows with the premiere of a dance piece called This is our last dance, funded by the brazilian British Council in 2018, which she writes, directs and performs. In the same year Rangel and Tsuda unfolds the dance piece into a performative music show named Pista Falsa, or False Clue, where she sings her own writings while hanging on a clibing chair.

Works developed in partnerships with other projects:

Shanawaara world tour - choreografing , dancing and singing for this queer show touring in Germany - curated by Projeto Brasil during the summer of 2016. As an aerial plus solo acrobat and dancer she colaborates with the brazilian music band O Teatro Mágico touring around the whole country from 2013 until 2017. Last work in formal theatre was with Circo Mínimo, a physical theatre company from Sao Paulo during the years of 2011 and 2013. Danced for the choreografer Volmir Cordeiro in Hipo-teses para o corpo funded by Santa Catarina’s city hall in 2008.

Nowadays Manoela lives between Berlin and Sao Paulo and works in collaboration with AND Lab | Research Centre for Art-Thinking & Politics of Togetherness, based in Lisbon, that develops from artistic practices to care practices, always committed to the matter of the Common.
